MDE Machinery recently joined our partners at A&D Equipment for their BUILT IN THE DIRT Field Test & Evaluation Day in Guilford, Connecticut, USA, giving customers the opportunity to see MDE attachments working in real-world conditions.

Held on 15 July 2026, the event brought together arborists, contractors, and landscape professionals from across the Northeast to see first-hand how MDE attachments can help improve efficiency and performance across demanding tree work and vegetation management applications.

Throughout the day, MDE’s team was on-site to answer questions, discuss different applications, and help customers understand which attachment solutions best suited their needs.

Live demonstrations showcase MDE Machinery attachments

The event featured live demonstrations of the Scorpion S900 and S1600 Grapple Saws, along with the Koala K300 and K400 Tree Shears.

The Scorpion S900 was demonstrated with a steel wrist tilt rotator, showcasing the attachment’s versatility and control when handling tree work applications.

The Scorpion S1600 highlighted the range of tasks it can perform, moving logs and brush while also demonstrating its raking capabilities by removing large rocks from a hillside.

The Koala Tree Shears also attracted significant interest throughout the day, with both the K300 and K400 models demonstrating their impressive cutting capabilities.

The larger Koala K400 was one of the highlights of the event, with attendees impressed by the size of the hydraulic cylinder and the cutting capacity it delivers. During the demonstration, the K400 successfully cut large trees and delimbed branches, showcasing its ability to handle demanding tree work applications.

The Koala K300 also performed strongly, cutting trees up to its maximum cutting capacity of 12” and demonstrating its ability to cut multiple smaller saplings in a single pass.

Giving customers the opportunity to see MDE in action

One of the biggest benefits of live demonstration events is allowing customers to see equipment performing the type of work they carry out every day.

Customers were particularly interested in the premium Hardox® steel used across the Scorpion and Koala ranges, with discussions around how material choice contributes to the strength, durability, and long-term performance of the attachments.

The quality of the welding and the overall build quality of the attachments received a lot of positive feedback, with attendees impressed by the strength and finish of the machines.

Creating opportunities through live demonstrations

The event generated strong interest in MDE attachments, with follow-up conversations and quotations taking place following the demonstrations.

One customer collected their Scorpion S750 directly from the event, highlighting the success already in the region.

Events like BUILT IN THE DIRT highlight the importance of allowing customers to experience attachments working first-hand before making a purchasing decision.

“Nothing replaces a live demonstration. Customers can ask questions, see how the equipment handles real tasks, and discover applications they may not have considered before. That’s what makes days like this so worthwhile.” – Tyler, MDE’s Head of Business Partnerships in the US

Strengthening MDE’s presence in the Northeast

The Northeast represents an important growth market for MDE Machinery, particularly within the arboriculture, vegetation management, and contracting sectors.

Working alongside experienced local partners such as A&D Equipment allows MDE to build stronger relationships with customers and provide the local support needed to help them find the right attachment solutions.

“A&D Equipment were fantastic to work with throughout the event. Their team was well prepared, knowledgeable, and fully committed to giving customers the best possible experience. Speaking after the event Donna LaFata, President of A&D Equipment spoke about the partnership with MDE.

“Everything we do, in business and in life, is built on relationships.

We’ve been getting to know the team at MDE for several years, so it was incredibly rewarding to see that relationship grow into the introduction of their products here in the United States. It was a privilege for A&D Equipment to help bring MDE to contractors throughout the Northeast.

What impressed us from the beginning wasn’t just the quality of their equipment, it was the people behind it. The MDE team genuinely believes in their products, stands behind everything they build, and shares our commitment to helping contractors solve real jobsite challenges.

We value partnering with companies that put their customers first. Like us, MDE understands that success isn’t measured by selling equipment, it’s measured by helping customers work more efficiently, solve problems, and build stronger businesses. That’s the kind of relationship we’re proud to be part of.”

Building strong partnerships with dealers such as A&D Equipment is an important part of MDE’s continued growth in North America, ensuring customers have access to local expertise, product knowledge, and the right attachment solutions for their applications.
